I tried a new technique with the edge loops here, I tried some weird ideas to avoid spiraling edge loops.
You can see it here:
Instead of an edge loop around the bicep itself, my edge loop goes from the bicep to the tricep, this was I can keep nice control over the geometry.
Here you can see basically where I am at with my retopo

This phase is making me hungry for this feature in Blender 2.6 called Quad Dominant Remeshing.

A last update for today
Worked a bit more on the hands, still a ways to go, :-)
Hands are tough. Each finger is like an arm and there are 5 of them. Plus proportions are important if you want to be able to make a believable fist. And there are rules to a good hand.
